Living Earth #2: Questioning our representations of the living world
2nd part of the exhibition - Abbaye de La Cambre (Building SAFFCA)
Opening reception on October 9 (5:30 - 8 p.m.) - Abbaye de La Cambre (Building SAFFCA)
This selection of works questions our representations of the living world—whether real or imagined—through narratives that immerse us in ecosystems both familiar and dreamlike. The artists invite us into worlds where the boundary between observation and fiction blurs, prompting viewers to rethink their place in the natural world.
Some works, presented as dioramas or scenes from a dreamlike theater, play with the aesthetics of sublimation and wonder. They transform the act of looking into a poetic experience, where nature becomes a spectacle that is both intimate and grand. Others, more analytical, focus on deciphering natural environments and phenomena. They adopt a reflective, sensory, or even scientific approach to reveal the invisible mechanisms of life and challenge our relationship with the world.
Through these creations, the artists invite us to explore the many facets of biodiversity: its beauty, complexity, and fragility. Between fascination and inquiry, this selection offers an immersive experience, where art becomes a mirror held up to our own perception of the living world.
