Living Earth #1 : Coexisting: Living Territories
1rst part of the exhibition - Abbaye de La Cambre (Building K)
Opening reception on October 9 (5:30 - 8 p.m.) - 1rst part of the exhibition - Abbaye de La Cambre (Building K)
This selection of works brings together artistic commitments that explore ecology as a lived experience. Through practices rooted in the long term, the artists question our relationship with the Earth’s territories—those of Indigenous peoples, those we inhabit, and those we exploit. Between resistance and activism, their works reveal narratives of struggle, repair, and reappropriation. They align with broader movements such as care, ecofeminism, and decolonialism, challenging hierarchies between genders and cultures. These works do more than represent: they denounce, act, collaborate, transform, and propose alternatives for inhabiting the world differently, from Africa to the Americas, and across the Arctic.
Art becomes a political act, a space where the memory of soils and oceans, the voices of the marginalized, and the persistence of ecosystems intersect. It is an invitation to rethink our place within a network of interdependencies, where every gesture matters.
