Sensitivities to living things and objects
Sébastien Pluot's perspective on the aesthetics of contingencies in traditional Japanese culture. During his residency at Villa Kujoyama, he learned various craft techniques (ceramics, kintsugi, urushi lacquer, wood, paper, and cooking) and travelled throughout Japan to explore ways of dealing with the unexpected, accidents, the ageing of things, and the impermanence of life.
He highlights the need to reconnect with a sensitivity to objects and living things, and to learn to cooperate with one's environment.
