COLLABORATIONS EN TERRITOIRES AUTOCHTONES 2
"Composing Worlds", film (70 mins) on the thinking of Philippe Descola, followed by a discussion with director Eliza Levy
PART 2
While moderns occupy space, non-moderns inhabit places and move along the threads that produce place. (Arturo Escobar: 2024:56)
Artists and researchers share their experiences of working with and alongside human and non-human collectives. The films, sculptures and performances shared in this session crystallise a pluralistic vision of the world and how we inhabit it.
Composing Worlds - A film written, shot and directed by Eliza Levy on the thinking of Philippe Descola.
Where should we start to rethink our world in order to transform it? Philippe Descola has devoted his life as an anthropologist to studying how humans compose their worlds; starting in the Amazon, he turned his field of research towards Europe in order to understand how we, as modern humans, have made the earth less and less habitable.
The film takes him on a journey to embody his ideas, in dialogue with the non-humans around us, at the heart of a societal experiment unique in the world, in France, at Notre-Dame-des-Landes. There, on and with the land saved from concrete, in place of a pharaonic airport, a new composition of the world is unfolding.
Duration: 70 minutes followed by a discussion with director Eliza Levy, artist Guillaume Barth and art and anthropology lecturer and researcher Anna Seiderer.
